Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Observation Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years of prior experience required in a large, urban hospital License: Pending license accepted Certifications: BLS required, ACLS preferred Must-Have: - EPIC charting experience required - Experience managing IV drips and cardiac drips is essential - Must float within scope to meet facility needs Description: The Observation Unit provides care to patients who require evaluation and treatment for a period of time between 8 and 48 hours. Common conditions that may require observation include chest pain, asthma, abdominal pain, kidney stones, and minor infections. Nursing ratios are 1:5 during days and 1:6 during nights. Night ratios can be 1:7, although this is rare. Travelers are required to work weekends, with four weekend shifts out of eight possible in a four-week period. Weekend work includes Saturdays and Sundays, with rotating Friday and Saturday nights. Travelers must also work two out of three major holidays. RTO restrictions apply, with up to two weeks of RTO permitted submitted with the application. This facility is a 100% nicotine-free workplace. Interdisciplinary support is available, including IV teams, respiratory services, phlebotomy, and social services. The unit comprises 26 beds and caters to adult and geriatric patient age groups. Travel nurses will be expected to wear designated scrubs. This role requires effective communication and teamwork to deliver high-quality patient care. All protocols must be adhered to, including isolation precautions and patient safety measures.
