Registered Nurse - Medical-Surgical Telemetry Job Summary

This is a 13-week contract opportunity for a dedicated Registered Nurse specializing in Medical-Surgical Telemetry. The role is based in a hospital setting in Elmira, New York, on a specific telemetry unit (4B). The successful candidate will provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients requiring medical-surgical interventions and continuous cardiac monitoring.

This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a dynamic healthcare team, ensuring high-quality patient outcomes in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include patient assessment, medication administration, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and collaborative care planning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including cardiac rhythm interpretation and vital sign monitoring.
  • Administer medications safely and accurately, including IV therapies, in accordance with physician orders and hospital policy.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
  • Monitor and manage patients with various medical conditions, post-surgical recovery, and those requiring continuous telemetry.
  • Document all patient care activities, observations, and interventions accurately and timely in the electronic health record.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, charge nurses, and other interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient care.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
  • Respond to emergency situations, including code blue, and initiate appropriate interventions.
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in a Medical-Surgical Telemetry unit.
  • Ability to work in Elmira, New York.

Licensing Requirements
