Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiac Telemetry Duration: 14 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 1 year License: GA or Compact license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Prior travel experience. Comfortable managing the following continuous IV medications: - Cardiac drips: Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, Nitroglycerin. - Diuretics: Bumex, Lasix. - Anticoagulants: Aggrastat, Argatroban, Heparin. - Insulin drips. Description: This position requires managing a patient population that includes adults to geriatrics. The nurse will handle overflow IMCU, arrhythmia management, cardioversion, and cardiac CHF. The patient population may also include those with chest pain, renal issues, and pulmonary conditions such as COPD and pulmonary edema. DVT and cardiac arrhythmias are also common among patients treated. Surgical patients may include those recovering from cholecystectomy, appendectomy, and those with chest tubes or biliary drains. Occasionally, vascular patients and post-cardiac catheterization patients will be present, along with DKA patients. The nurse should possess basic arrhythmia knowledge and experience with hemodynamic monitoring, as well as care for patients post-PCI. These competencies extend to all areas under the Med/Surg umbrella. The patient-to-nurse ratio is typically 1:5 to 6 with a daily census of 32 beds. The facility utilizes an electronic medical records system. Weekend coverage is typically every other weekend as needed. Floating to similar units within the facility may be required. Call requirements are rare, with a typical response time of 2 hours. Holidays may require working if they fall within the assignment period. Compliance with onboarding requirements is necessary to start on time. Travelers should be prepared to manage various medical scenarios as detailed in the description.
