The RN assumes responsibility for a group of patients. Care is provided through the utilization of the nursing process. Responsibilities include performing all duties required by the unit. Procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice are implemented. Accurate documentation of nursing care is maintained. Initial assessments upon patient admission are completed. An appropriate plan of care is developed based on patient and family needs. The plan of care is implemented, including nursing interventions and patient care procedures. Modifications to the plan of care are made based upon continuous evaluation. Safety of patients and employees is prioritized by reporting hazards. Effective communication with others is essential to resolve issues. Constructive feedback is offered for the professional development of peers. Initiative is taken to identify and address personal learning needs. All departmental competencies are fulfilled. Direct care of CVMS patients, including post-operative patients, is provided. A clean and tidy work environment is maintained. Client and unit-based competencies are upheld. Hourly rounding on patients is performed. Opportunities to assist customers are proactively sought.
