Job Summary
Join a dedicated team as a Registered Nurse specializing in Telemetry/Progressive Care at Southern Illinois Healthcare in Carbondale, Illinois. This 13-week contract assignment offers an opportunity to provide high-quality care to a diverse patient population with cardiac and respiratory conditions within a supportive and collaborative environment.
The unit maintains a 4:1 patient ratio, allowing for focused patient care. Acuity levels fluctuate, providing a dynamic clinical experience where your skills in patient assessment and critical thinking will be highly valued.
Key Responsibilities
Assess patients comprehensively to determine mental, physical, and spiritual needs.
Collaborate with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
Provide clear explanations and instructions to patients and their responsible persons regarding care and treatment.
Utilize nursing clinical judgment to recognize and promptly report changes in patient condition.
Contribute to a healthy workplace by effectively managing conflict through professional communication skills.
Ensure compliance with Core Measure responsibilities related to patient care.
Actively participate in continuing education and professional development.
Maintain complete and accurate medical records in accordance with facility standards.
Required Qualifications
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in a Telemetry or Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting.
Ability to work in Carbondale, Illinois.

Shift Details
Shift Type: Day Shift (AM)
Shift Duration: 12 hours
Days per Week: 3 days per week
Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
Holiday Rotation: Required
On-Call: No on-call requirements
Overtime: Overtime opportunities are available.
Scheduling: While block schedules cannot be guaranteed, efforts will be made to accommodate preferred scheduling requests.
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: August 24, 2026
Licensing Requirements
Current and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Illinois.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (CPR).
Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
