Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Surgical/Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) to join a 60-bed adult medical-surgical unit with telemetry monitoring.

The unit primarily cares for adult patients, with only a very small pediatric population—approximately 1–5 pediatric patients per year. Pediatric experience is not required.

The ideal candidate will be a positive, team-oriented RN who demonstrates compassion, professionalism, and respect for patients and fellow team members.

Patient Population

Common diagnoses and patient types include:

• Post-surgical patients
• Diabetes
• Heart failure (HF)
• Hypertension (HTN)
• General medical conditions
• Weakness/deconditioning
• Oncology/cancer patients
• Telemetry patients

RN-to-Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:5

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Medical-Surgical nursing experience
• Telemetry experience preferred
• Strong assessment and patient-care skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Positive and professional attitude
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Willingness to care for a diverse patient population
• Pediatric experience is not required

Schedule

Day Shift: 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM
Night Shift: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM

• 12-hour shifts
• Every other weekend required
• Schedule based on unit needs

Floating Requirements

Travelers may be required to float to other appropriate units based on operational needs, including:

• 6 East
• Acute Rehabilitation Unit
• Geriatric Psychiatric Unit

Candidates should be flexible and willing to float while caring for patients within their competency and scope of practice.

Equipment & Technology

• EMR: Epic
• IV Pumps: Alaris
• Medical-surgical telemetry monitoring

Orientation & Required Exam

During orientation, RNs must complete a pass/fail exam on Friday covering skills learned during orientation.

• Exam is open book
• All necessary resources are provided
• 90% minimum score required to pass
• Failure to achieve the required score may result in contract termination

50-Mile Radius Rule

• A 50-mile radius rule applies.
• A driver's license is required at submission and will be used to determine whether the candidate is outside the 50-mile radius.
• Candidates may not be full-time, part-time, or PRN employees with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity.

Fingernail Policy

• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient-care departments.
• Candidates must comply with the facility's fingernail policy.
• Refusal to remove prohibited artificial nails may result in contract termination.
