Contract | Night Shift | 12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM | Every other weekend required | Holiday rotation required
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care on a 70-bed Cardio Thoracic unit serving patients with diagnoses including MI, CHF, A-fib, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placement, lung surgery with chest tubes, esophagectomy, and general medical overflow
Perform continuous EKG interpretation and monitor telemetry using Philips monitoring systems; collaborate with on-unit monitor technicians
Titrate drips including Cardizem and heparin per unit protocols
Manage patients on CPAP, BiPAP (home regimen), and heated high-flow oxygen as applicable
Float to other general medical units as needed
Maintain active Illinois RN licensure and adhere to a drug-free campus policy, including a negative drug screen for all panels
Required Qualifications
Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated at time of submission)
BLS certification (required)
Proficiency in EKG interpretation and medication titration
Demonstrated competency in all basic nursing skills
Ability to pass a drug screen for all panels; facility is a drug-free campus
Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates
Preferred Experience / Skills
ACLS certification (recommended)
Prior experience in a telemetry, cardiac, or cardio thoracic nursing setting
Familiarity with chest tube management and post-surgical cardiac or thoracic patient populations
Previous experience at this health system (may reduce orientation requirements)
