Provide direct patient care on a 30-bed Trauma, Orthopedic, and Surgical unit with a 1:4–5 nurse-to-patient ratio
Care for a high volume of post-operative transplant, Whipple procedure, spine, orthopedic joint, and trauma patients
Monitor and interpret telemetry using Philips monitoring systems; manage patients on BiPAP and CPAP
Perform and maintain competency in sterile field procedures including Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes as validated through SIMs Lab on Day 1 of orientation
Document patient care accurately using Cerner EMR
Float as needed to Medical/Telemetry units or alternate campuses; fulfill weekend requirement of 3 shifts per 4-week period and participate in holiday rotation with permanent staff
Required Qualifications
Active RN license in good standing
Minimum 2 years of Telemetry experience
Level 1 Trauma experience required
Current BLS and ACLS certifications
Proficiency with Cerner EMR
Must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to assignment acceptance (two attempts permitted); must demonstrate competency in sterile field technique and pass Day 1 SIMs Lab skills assessment
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience caring for post-operative transplant or complex surgical patients such as Whipple procedures
Familiarity with Philips telemetry monitoring systems
Prior travel nursing experience with ability to adapt quickly to new unit environments
