Job OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) with Stepdown/Progressive Care (PCU) experience for a 13-week contract assignment in New York City. This opportunity is open to both local and travel nurses.
The RN will provide high-quality, patient-centered care to adult patients requiring intermediate-level care, including telemetry monitoring, cardiac care, and patients with ventricular assist devices (VADs) and tracheostomies.
Responsibilities- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care for Stepdown/PCU patients.
- Monitor patients requiring continuous telemetry and advanced cardiac monitoring.
- Care for patients with tracheostomies, trach-to-ventilator support, and ventricular assist devices (VADs).
- Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and treatments according to physician orders.
- Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition.
- Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to coordinate patient care.
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans and discharge instructions.
- Document all patient care accurately using Epic EMR.
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, infection prevention protocols, and patient safety standards.
- Float to Medical-Surgical units as needed.
Required Qualifications- Active New York State RN License
- BLS Certification
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience
- Minimum 2 years of recent Stepdown, Progressive Care (PCU), Cardiology, or Telemetry experience
- Experience with Ventricular Assist Devices (VADs)
- Tracheostomy and Trach-to-Ventilator experience required
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred for travel candidates (not required for local candidates)
Education- BSN preferred
- Associate Degree in Nursing accepted with relevant experience or active enrollment in a BSN program
