Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Transplant Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years in a large, urban hospital License: Required, pending license accepted Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH, CPI preferred Must-Have: - 2 years of prior experience required - EPIC charting experience required - Previous charge experience preferred - Ability to float to different units as needed Description: This is a 36-bed unit providing medical surgical, telemetry, and progressive care. The focus is on adult pre and post liver, kidney, pancreas, intestinal transplant patients, and intestinal rehabilitation patients. Adolescent patients starting at age 15 are cared for by core staff only. Patient ratios are 1:5 during the day and 1:6 at night, though night ratios may reach 1:7 depending on staffing. Travelers will be required to float frequently to meet staffing needs. Weekend shifts include 4 weekend shifts out of 8 possible within a 4-week period. Travelers must work 2 out of 3 major holidays. All travelers must adhere to a 100% nicotine-free facility policy. No locals will be accepted; candidates must be more than 100 miles from the facility. Travelers must possess skills in various critical nursing procedures, including managing specific drips and monitoring telemetry. The unit includes interdisciplinary support from various teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, and rapid response teams. Special equipment is available in every patient room, including overhead lift equipment. The role requires careful assessment and management of complex patient needs related to transplant surgery and recovery.
