Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Candidates must not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any associated facility. Candidates must be able to pass an exam during orientation. Fingernail policy prohibits artificial nails in all patient care departments. Candidates must have a driver's license for verification purposes. Description: This position is for a Trauma Intensive Care Unit. The unit serves critically ill patients, requiring strong critical thinking skills. Common diagnoses include various trauma injuries, sepsis, stroke, ARDS, COPD, and cardiac arrest. Patient nurse ratios are typically 1:1-2 in the ICU and 1:4 in progressive care. Nurses are required to titrate drips, including vasopressors and sedation. There are designated charge nurses on each shift who do have assignments. Nurse aids and patient care techs are available in a 1:18 ratio. RNs will need to troubleshoot respiratory equipment and read telemetry strips. Self-scheduling is available but managed based on unit needs. Weekend shifts are required at a rate of 4 per 6-week schedule period. Nurses may float to various inpatient units as needed, excluding maternity and NICU. A navy blue scrub color is the standard dress code for this unit. Additional time off must be submitted upfront and will not be approved later. The unit operates in a fast-paced environment that emphasizes teamwork and a positive attitude. RNs should demonstrate a commitment to high patient care standards.
