Description:
The Trauma ICU department is looking for a skilled ICU Registered Nurse.
This unit provides critical care for adults and pediatric patients over 15 years old.
Common diagnoses include various trauma injuries, sepsis, stroke, ARDS, MODS, COPD, and cardiac arrest.
The nurse-patient ratio is 1:1-2 in ICU and 1:4 in PCU.
Nurses are required to titrate various drips, including vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, and sedation.
Charge nurses are available on each shift, but they also take assignments.
Patient care techs are present on the unit, with a ratio of 1:18.
Registered nurses must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips.
There are no telemetry techs on this unit.
The unit operates on a self-scheduling basis, managed by the unit manager.
Weekend requirements entail four weekend shifts within a six-week scheduling period.
Floating across inpatient units is expected, excluding maternity and NICU.
The dress code is navy blue scrubs.
The environment is fast-paced with critically ill patients.
Successful attributes for nurses include critical thinking skills, a positive attitude, and being a team player.
RTO of seven days or less is necessary upfront; additional time off will not be approved.
The cancellation policy allows for up to four shifts to be canceled during the 13-week contract.
Charting is done using the EPIC system.
A BSN is not required for this position.
