Travel Nursing Job Details
- Location: Bangor, Maine
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130–$2,250
- Employment Type: 13-week travel Registered Nurse contract
- Start Date: October 26, 2026
- Contract End Date: January 25, 2027
- Schedule: 12-hour day shifts
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Healthcare Setting: Inpatient wound care with outpatient wound center support as needed
- Orientation: Up to 16 hours of orientation may be unpaid
Wound Care Registered Nurse Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maine or a valid compact-state license
- At least 1 year of Registered Nurse experience; wound care experience and specialized training are strongly preferred
- Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain it within 30 days of hire
- Certified Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurse (CWOCN) or Certified Wound Specialist (CWS) credentials preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of wound staging, ostomy care, pressure injury prevention, and continence management
- Strong communication, organization, teamwork, and multitasking skills
- Ability to provide safe, compassionate patient care within the scope of licensure, training, and demonstrated competency
Wound Care RN Responsibilities
- Evaluate and assess wounds and ostomies and develop appropriate nursing care approaches
- Perform wound care procedures, including dressing changes, debridement, and ostomy care, according to competency and established standards
- Consult on inpatient wound and ostomy needs as requested by a provider or nursing order
- Serve as a clinical resource and educator for nursing staff on skin integrity, wound care, ostomy management, pressure injury prevention, and continence concerns
- Educate patients and families on wound, ostomy, skin, and incontinence care
- Manage urinary and bowel dysfunction-related incontinence concerns and coordinate appropriate resources, including home health, durable medical equipment, and diabetes support services
- Provide ostomy care for inpatient and outpatient patients and assist with outpatient scheduling and clinic visits
- Document patient assessments, treatment, education, and follow-up accurately and consistently
- Collaborate with inpatient nursing, providers, and other clinical teams to promote continuity and effective patient care
- Support outpatient wound center operations as needed, including wound care, patient education, charting, and use of wound care products and equipment
- Maintain current knowledge of wound care and ostomy products, safety practices, emergency procedures, and applicable clinical standards
- Participate in performance improvement activities, departmental projects, committee work, supply organization, and other duties that support high-quality patient care
