Roles and Responsibilities

• Assess, evaluate, and document acute and chronic wounds, pressure injuries, surgical wounds, ulcers, and other skin integrity concerns
• Develop and implement individualized wound care plans in collaboration with physicians and the multidisciplinary healthcare team
• Perform wound cleansing, dressing changes, debridement assistance, and other prescribed wound treatments within scope of practice
• Monitor wounds for signs of infection, deterioration, delayed healing, or other complications
• Recommend appropriate wound care products, dressings, and treatment approaches based on patient condition and established protocols
• Monitor and document wound healing progress through accurate measurements, assessments, and photographs when permitted
• Educate patients and caregivers on wound care techniques, nutrition, pressure injury prevention, and skin protection
• Assist with pressure injury prevention and skin integrity programs
• Collaborate with physicians, dietitians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
• Follow infection prevention, patient safety, OSHA, and facility wound care protocols
• Participate in care conferences, quality improvement initiatives, and wound prevention programs
• Advocate for patients and ensure compassionate, respectful, and culturally sensitive care

Qualifications

• Active Arizona Registered Nurse (RN) License
• Minimum 2 years of recent Wound Care nursing experience
• Current BLS Certification required
• Wound Care certification such as WCC, CWCN, CWOCN, or equivalent preferred
• Strong knowledge of wound assessment, staging, treatment, and prevention
• Experience with pressure injuries, diabetic wounds, venous and arterial ulcers, and surgical wounds
• Knowledge of infection prevention and evidence-based wound management practices
• Experience using electronic medical records (EMR)
• Excellent assessment, communication, documentation, and critical-thinking skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team
• Strong commitment to patient dignity, safety, and quality outcomes
