Roles and Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive assessments of acute and chronic wounds, pressure injuries, ulcers, surgical wounds, and other skin integrity concerns
  • Develop and implement individualized wound care plans in collaboration with physicians and the multidisciplinary healthcare team
  • Perform wound cleansing, dressing changes, and other prescribed wound treatments within scope of practice
  • Monitor wounds for signs of infection, deterioration, delayed healing, and other complications
  • Measure and document wound characteristics, including size, depth, drainage, tissue type, and surrounding skin condition
  • Select and apply appropriate wound care products and dressings according to patient needs and established protocols
  • Educate patients and caregivers on wound care, skin protection, pressure injury prevention, nutrition, and treatment plans
  • Participate in pressure injury prevention and skin integrity programs
  • Collaborate with physicians, dietitians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Participate in care conferences and quality improvement initiatives related to wound management
  • Follow infection prevention, patient safety, OSHA, HIPAA, and facility protocols
  • Advocate for patients while providing compassionate, respectful, and patient-centered care
Qualifications
  • Active Maryland Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Minimum 2 year of recent Wound Care nursing experience
  • Current BLS Certification required
  • Wound Care certification such as WCC, CWCN, CWOCN
  • Strong knowledge of wound assessment, staging, prevention, and treatment
  • Experience with pressure injuries, diabetic wounds, venous ulcers, arterial ulcers, and surgical wounds preferred
  • Knowledge of infection prevention and evidence-based wound management practices
  • Experience using electronic medical records (EMR)
  • Excellent clinical assessment, documentation, communication, and critical-thinking skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong commitment to patient safety, dignity, and quality outcomes
