Job Title: Registered Nurse - Wound Care Profession: RN Specialty: Wound Care Duration: 14 weeks Shift: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, rotating weekends and holidays required Hours per Shift: 7.5 hours Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of Med/Surg experience, Wound and Colostomy experience preferred License: State RN License Certifications: AHA BLS, Current certification in Wound Care specialty Must-Have: - Patient Assessment - Care Planning - Med/Surg Nursing - Wound Care - Colostomy Care Description: Conduct health assessment interviews focused on wound, ostomy, and continence related care. Perform focused physical assessments and develop plans of care based on diagnosis and individual client needs. Recommend medications and treatments as appropriate. Develop, revise, and evaluate standards of care. Assist in the selection of supplies, technology, and equipment. Assess and document patient responses to wound care, ostomy, continence, fistula, and complex wounds treatment. Evaluate the quality and delivery of care provided by clinical staff. Work collaboratively with the healthcare team and make referrals as indicated. Teach, counsel, and assist individuals and families to assume responsibility for preventing complications related to ostomies, wounds, or continence problems. Develop, provide, and evaluate staff education programs, including new employee orientation, in-services, and continuing education. Provide comprehensive assessments of patients at risk for developing pressure injuries and initiate preventive measures. Communicate challenges identified, including ethical issues and issues related to conflict resolution. Collaborate with leadership to initiate and recommend best practices based on prudent assessment. Participate in Quality Improvement and Hospital Wide QI activities, such as incidence and prevalence studies. Provide culturally competent patient, family, and staff education consistent with cultural, ethnic, religious, and other belief systems. Maintain the security and confidentiality of data and information. Achieve and maintain professional competency by engaging in activities consistent with clinical practice and population. Identify available community resources helpful to clients and assist them in utilizing such resources. Manage assets related to rented equipment, such as specialty beds and negative pressure devices.
