Job Title: Wound Ostomy Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Wound Ostomy Duration: 14 Shift: Monday - Friday Hours per Shift: 8:30 am - 5:00 pm Experience: Minimum of Four (4) years of clinical experience License: Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California - Current and in good standing Certifications: Wound and Ostomy Certification Must-Have: CWON Certification Description: Functions as the clinical resource for patients and staff for ostomy, continence disorders, and wound and skin breakdown. Provides direct wound and ostomy care in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Provides patient and family education on wound and ostomy management both pre and post-operatively. Assists the healthcare team in evaluating skin and wound products and equipment. Delivers educational programs, in-services, and bedside teaching to nursing staff. Stays current with skin care practices and shares advances in wound and skin care assessments, evaluations, treatments, and prevention measures. Assesses all patients with a pressure injury staged at Three (3) or above. Sees all patients who have developed a hospital-acquired pressure injury and meets reporting requirements. Assesses overall needs and practices to eliminate hospital-acquired pressure injuries. Demonstrates initiative and strong interpersonal skills. Exhibits knowledge of infection control and patient safety protocols. Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills. Exemplifies strong job knowledge, patient counseling skills, and business acumen. Maintains trust and accountability in professional relationships. Demonstrates the ability to handle technology and equipment relevant to wound and ostomy care. Demonstrates innovation and ensures customer satisfaction. Travel is required.
