Job Summary (in List Format):

- Assumes responsibility for a group of patients during assigned shifts, providing care using the nursing process and current nursing trends.
- Performs all unit-specific responsibilities and duties within the designated scope of service.
- Implements nursing procedures and best practices relevant to the assigned department.
- Maintains current and accurate documentation of patient care for effective team communication.
- Completes initial patient assessments upon admission and develops individualized care plans based on patient and family needs.
- Implements and modifies care plans, nursing interventions, and procedures based on continuous patient evaluation.
- Ensures patient and staff safety by identifying, reporting, and correcting safety hazards and incidents.
- Communicates effectively with team members, addressing issues directly and privately when necessary.
- Provides constructive feedback to peers and collaborates to expand professional knowledge.
- Identifies personal learning needs and proactively seeks solutions for professional development.
- Meets all departmental competency requirements.

Department-Specific Functions (Obstetric/Labor & Delivery):

- Provides specialized care to inpatient obstetric patients.
- Monitors fetal well-being throughout labor and delivery.
- Administers medications specific to obstetric care.
- Educates patients and families on obstetric health and procedures.
- Participates in the intrapartum care of patients and newborns, including both vaginal and surgical deliveries.

Requirements:

- Minimum 3 years of relevant nursing experience.
- Required Education: ASN (Associate of Science in Nursing); BSN preferred.
- Required Licenses/Certifications:
- Current Illinois RN license in good standing
- BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications (American Heart Association)
- Schedule: Night shifts, 7:30pm–7:00am (12-hour shifts).
- Language: Proficient in English (speaking, reading, writing).
- Department: Labor and Delivery (Clinical-Nursing category).
