Labor & Delivery RN – Wisconsin
Position Summary
The Registered Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care for maternal and newborn patients, ensuring safe, compassionate, and family-centered care throughout labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn recovery.
Required Qualifications
- Active Wisconsin RN License
- Associate Degree in Nursing (BSN preferred)
- AHA BLS
- NRP
- ALSO
- STABLE
- Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
Core Responsibilities
- Perform maternal and newborn assessments
- OB triage and patient evaluation
- Develop and implement individualized care plans
- Administer medications safely
- Monitor labor progression
- Manage labor inductions and cervical ripening
- Interpret fetal heart monitoring
- Manage pregnancy complications (hypertension, diabetes)
- Perform neonatal assessment and resuscitation
- Recognize and manage neonatal complications, including:
- Sepsis
- Hypoglycemia
- Hypothermia
- Jaundice
- Educate patients and families on maternal and newborn care
- Communicate patient status changes promptly with providers
- Collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary care team
Required Obstetric Skills
Candidates should be comfortable managing:
- Postpartum hemorrhage (PPH)
- Prolapsed cord
- Breech delivery
- Precipitous delivery
- Uterine rupture
- Placenta previa
- Abruptio placenta
- Meconium management
