Job Title: OB Technician Profession: OB Technician Specialty: OB Technician Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1 year preferred in OB License: None required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required Must-Have: Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) Description: Provides assistance in providing patient care during labor, delivery, and recovery. Performs surgical scrub duties and maintains acceptable levels of supplies. Provides turnover of patient areas. Assists in the operating room with obstetrics-related surgery. Assists with patient care before and after surgery. Education and experience includes high school education or equivalent. Associates/Technical degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience is preferred. Assists in preparation of patient rooms. Opens sterile supplies and sets up for procedures utilizing aseptic technique. Checks integrity of sterile packaging. Assists the surgical team during operative procedures by providing needed supplies and instruments in a timely manner. Participates in the timeout on each case. Assists nursing staff in deliveries as directed, including preparation, positioning, transports, transfer, and discharge of patients. Collects urinalysis specimens. Takes and records maternal vital signs, weight, height, and intake & output measurements. Performs personal care services and assists with activities of daily living for patients in providing general care. Prepares, positions, transports, transfers, and discharges patients. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Is committed to the safety and well-being of associates and patients.
