Job Title: OB Technician Profession: OB Technician Specialty: OB Technician Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Preferred: High School Education/GED or equivalent. Preferred: Associates/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience. License: Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor. Certifications: Required: Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA). Preferred: Surgical Technician or Obstetrical Technician certification. Must-Have: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA). Description: Provides assistance in providing patient care during labor, delivery, and recovery. Performs surgical scrub duties, maintains acceptable levels of supplies, and provides turnover of patient areas. Assists in the operating room with obstetrics-related surgery. Assists with patient care before and after surgery. Assists in preparation of patient rooms. Opens sterile supplies and sets up for procedures utilizing aseptic technique. Checks the integrity of sterile packaging. Assists the surgical team during operative procedures, providing needed supplies and instruments in a timely manner. Participates in the timeout on each case. Assists nursing staff in deliveries as directed by the nurse: preparation, positioning, transports, transfer, and discharge of patient. Collects urinalysis specimens. Takes and records maternal vital signs, weight, height, and intake & output measurements. Performs personal care services and assists with activities of daily living for patients in providing general care. Prepares, positions, transports, transfers, and discharges patients.
