Key Responsibilities

  • Assess patients' level of functioning upon physician orders and plan, implement, and adjust individualized treatment plans based on evaluation results and patient/family goals
  • Participate in the interdisciplinary team process, including team conferences, and collaborate with other team members to provide optimal patient care
  • Complete all required documentation including initial evaluations, daily progress notes, and discharge summaries within defined timeframes and per department policy
  • Coordinate discharge planning for each patient, including placement recommendations, patient and family education, and adaptive equipment issuance and training
  • Supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and OT/COTA students in the application of occupational therapy theory and techniques; assist with new staff orientation
  • Promote patient and employee safety across all key areas including safe patient handling, infection control, and fall prevention

Required Qualifications

  • Active Occupational Therapist (OT) licensure in the state of Texas
  • Ability to plan, organize, administer, and supervise OT treatment in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local standards and regulations
  • Competency in selecting and accurately administering appropriate evaluation procedures based on patient diagnosis
  • Strong documentation skills with the ability to complete all required records within defined timeframes
  • Ability to supervise COTAs, students, and other staff members competently

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Experience in an interdisciplinary team environment with demonstrated ability to collaborate across disciplines
  • Familiarity with discharge planning processes, including adaptive equipment recommendations and caregiver training
  • Strong patient and family communication skills with the ability to adjust to varying levels of understanding
