Responsibilities
- Provide occupational therapy services to assigned patients, including assessment, treatment, and education for patients and families.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans, basing decisions on patient history, current status, and physician orders; re-evaluate and adjust plans as needed.
- Administer therapeutic interventions using appropriate modalities, assistive devices, and activity-based approaches to reduce pain and restore function.
- Document evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries in the electronic medical record; communicate plans with patients, families, and the care team.
- Manage daily workflow, supervise supporting staff, and ensure the safe operation of therapy equipment and the treatment environment.
- Provide hand therapy and splinting care when indicated, with opportunities for mentorship from an experienced hand therapy provider.
Requirements
- Licensure: Active or eligible to obtain Washington state Occupational Therapist license.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy (AOTA-accredited preferred; WA approval noted).
- Certification: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS/HCP) required within 3 months of hire.
- Experience: One year of outpatient care experience preferred; hand therapy and splinting experience preferred.
- Skills: Ability to assess and care for patients across the age continuum; effective communication with physicians, nurses, therapists, patients, and families; capability to document and bill appropriately in the EMR; comfort working in a home healthcare setting.
- Physical/Functional: Ability to perform required mobility and manual dexterity tasks; meet visual and hearing demands; adapt care to home environments; collaborate with families and caregivers.
