Job Title: Occupational Therapy Assistant Profession: Occupational Therapy Assistant Specialty: Long Term Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 8 hours, M-F Experience: 1 year of OTA experience License: COTA license required Certifications: Active State Licensure/Registration when applicable Must-Have: Long-term care or rehabilitation experience Description: Utilize evidence-based practice to support clinical interventions. Provide rehabilitative, skilled, and medically necessary treatment interventions to patients with cognitive and/or physical functioning disorders under the supervision and direction of an Occupational Therapist. Administer various procedures as part of the rehabilitation plan, including but not limited to: ADL retraining, therapeutic activities, therapeutic exercises, modalities, and the use of supportive and assistive devices. Assess patient progress and communicate with the supervising Occupational Therapist to adjust treatments accordingly in the clinical record. Report the effectiveness of treatment outcomes to the supervising Occupational Therapist. Provide consultation to patients and families, caregivers, and other service providers related to cognitive and/or physical disorders. Effectively communicate with the supervisor and other health team members regarding patient progress, barriers, and treatment plans. Provide input to the supervisor for the discharge summary of services provided. Document all regulatory and clinically required information in the electronic documentation system. Maintain patient records according to company policy. Accurately record treatment minutes for services provided. Participate in required meetings, including patient care conferences, utilization review meetings, and rehabilitation meetings. Participate in facility and company-required training, in-services, and conferences. Work with the supervising Occupational Therapist to obtain any necessary DME or supplies. Supervise and support students under the guidance of the Occupational Therapist. Adhere to NBCOT/AOTA and State Required practice acts, code of conduct, and ethics during professional practice as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
