Description: The Occupational Therapist evaluates and executes the Occupational Therapy plan of care for patients. The goal is to prevent illness and disability and restore function following an injury or illness. Helps patients reach their maximum functional levels by utilizing techniques to improve physical health. Addresses associated sensorimotor, cognitive, and psychosocial components. Designs and constructs splints and adaptive equipment and devices as necessary. Documents patient care and charges accurately. Provides leadership and direction for support staff and Occupational Therapy students. Participates in professional development and continuing education to ensure compliance with licensure laws. Performs related tasks as needed to ensure effective delivery of Occupational Therapy services. Physical Requirements: Prolonged standing, sitting, walking, reading, writing, talking, and use of computer. Visual acuity is needed to read information from computer screens, forms, and other printed materials. Manual and tactile dexterity for palpation, use of computer keyboard, writing, and handling objects is required. Flexibility and body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling, standing, reaching, lifting, and moving objects is necessary. Work Environment: Work is indoors and is subject to schedule changes and variable work hours, including occasional weekend hours. Local travel to duties may be performed at multiple sites. Exposure to environmental temperature changes and bloodborne pathogens is present. The environment can be noisy and involves frequent interruptions or distractions. Duties may be subject to stressful pressures and deadlines. Wearing uniforms or a specific style of clothing may be required.
