Description:
The Occupational Therapist is responsible for the evaluation and treatment of patients in compliance with licensure standards.
The Occupational Therapist works with an interdisciplinary team contributing to patient goal development, care planning, and identifying barriers to discharge.
The therapist provides patient-centered care and ensures to educate the patient and family on treatment procedures, assistive devices, home programs, and other topics related to their health and well-being.
The therapist selects and performs evaluation and treatment methods that correlate to the patient's age, diagnosis, symptoms, and physician orders.
The therapist documents per chart and review standards.
The therapist orients patients, families, and/or other appropriate parties to the purpose and procedures of the therapy evaluation and treatment.
The therapist provides appropriate patient education, family teaching, and support that relates to the needs of the patient and family.
The therapist coordinates treatment schedules with disciplines using appropriate scheduling procedures.
The therapist monitors program effectiveness and outcomes, initiating programs and developing new programs.
The therapist performs pain assessments and takes appropriate action according to standard operating procedures.
The therapist obtains and documents all required and pertinent patient information, including precautions, orders, and initial plans of care.
The therapist participates with the interdisciplinary team in the development and accurate documentation of a discharge plan.
The therapist identifies significant changes in the patient's condition and takes appropriate actions, as evidenced in reporting, staffing consultations, and documentation.
The therapist provides clinical supervision to Assistants in a collaborative manner following state licensure and care delivery standards.
The therapist performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department or organization.
