Job Title: Occupational Therapist Profession: Occupational Therapy Specialty: Occupational Therapy Duration: 26 weeks Shift: 8 Hour Days Hours per Shift: 40 hours/week, Monday - Friday Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Occupational Therapist License required Certifications: BLS must be obtained within first 90 days if not already held Must-Have: Bachelor’s Degree required, NBCOT preferred Description: Occupational Therapist needed for full-time 26-week contract. Shifts are from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM. The therapist will be required to help with late joints, not every night, but on a rotation. The last joint will be seen at 5:00 PM, allowing for departure by 6:30 PM at the latest. No call or weekend shifts are required. First-time travelers are not being considered for this position. Expected patient load is 7 to 8 patients per shift. Types of patients expected include general medical, neurological, orthopedic, cardiac, respiratory, trauma, surgical, and joint replacement cases. Daily shift tasks involve arriving and conducting a chart review, followed by scheduling and patient care/evaluations until around 12 PM. A huddle will occur at 12:45 PM. There will be a 30-minute lunch break, with additional caregiving responsibilities in the afternoon. The therapist may be paired with a physical therapist initially to help with workflow. Experience in an acute care hospital setting is essential. The therapist should be comfortable with transferring patients with lines and drains and handling very acutely ill diagnoses.
