Job Title: Occupational Therapist Profession: Occupational Therapist Specialty: Occupational Therapy Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 8H Days Hours per Shift: 40 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: Required Certifications: BLS, State OT license, Mobility Certified (COMS) Must-Have: Long-term care/skilled nursing experience preferred Description: Department: Occupational Therapy. Patient caseload averages 6-8 patients per day, dependent on department overall caseload. Unit staffing includes 3 physical therapists, 1 physical therapy assistant, 1 certified occupational therapy assistant, 1 occupational therapist, and 1 speech-language pathologist. Common diagnoses and types of patients include post-surgical cases, orthopedics (total joint replacements of knees and hips, open reduction internal fixation, etc.), neurologic conditions (post-stroke, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, etc.), sports medicine, and complex medical cases. Settings include outpatient, inpatient swing bed, assisted living, and long-term care/skilled nursing. May be required to float between outpatient, inpatient swing bed, assisted living, and long-term care/skilled nursing settings. The majority of time will be spent in long-term care/skilled nursing; typically, less than 10% will be in the outpatient setting. Candidates must have 2 years of experience with a valid license; clinical experience does not count towards this requirement. Preferred candidates will have experience in long-term recovery therapy, seeing patients from immediate post-operative care to 1-2 months post-operative care. Department orientation is typically 1 week; by the second week, travelers are expected to work a full patient load of 6-8 patients per day. Expected productivity is set at 75%. Weekend requirements are rare. Holiday requirements are not applicable. May be required to float between facilities. Dress code allows for any color scrubs or business casual attire. Radius rule applies.
