Job Title: Occupational Therapist Profession: Rehabilitation Therapy Specialty: Occupational Therapy Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Monday - Friday Hours per Shift: 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM Experience: Minimum 2 years of occupational therapy experience preferred License: Montana Licensure (Occupational Therapist) Certifications: American Heart Association BLS required Must-Have: Graduate in Occupational Therapy from an accredited AOTA program Participates in two hours of initial cerebrovascular disease education within one year of hire Description: Looking for someone with a strong skillset in outpatient orthopedic services. This position exists to provide excellent occupational therapy services. The purpose of this position is to implement therapy programs for patients referred to the system as well as providing health and wellness education. Evaluates physical and functional status including muscle groups, motor function, upper extremity function, activities of daily living, coordination, and neurological status. Implements a plan of treatment as indicated by evaluations, which includes manual therapy, modalities, and therapeutic exercise. Prepares and instructs appropriate therapeutic exercise programs and develops home programs. Documents initial evaluations, re-evaluations, progress notes, daily treatments, education, and discharge summaries in compliance with policies. Educates patients, families, and caregivers in strategies to manage pain, improve safety and function, and educates regarding the individualized plan of care. Identifies patient safety issues and follows through with processes to ensure safety for all involved. Performs Functional Capacity Evaluations and/or Work Screens. Builds a plan of care and implements treatment according to evaluation results with treatment strategies including therapeutic activities, therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular re-education, and activities of daily living training. Collaborates with other disciplines and healthcare providers as needed to provide education or treatment planning. Demonstrates sound judgment, patience, and maintains a professional demeanor at all times. Ability to work in a busy and stressful environment. Creativity, problem analysis, and decision-making skills are essential. Ability to work varied shifts. Exercising tact, discretion, sensitivity, and maintaining confidentiality are important. Self-directed and completes assignments accurately, thoroughly, and with minimal oversight. Strong emotional intelligence, interpersonal, and teamwork skills are required. Physical Requirements: Lifting of up to 50 pounds. Sitting for extended periods. Standing for extended periods. Walking within the work area requires good balance and coordination. Twisting, bending, and stooping require flexibility. Reaching above shoulder level. Using upper extremities to push and pull objects as necessary. Fine-finger movements are continuously required. Close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data. Ability to learn new tasks, remember processes, and complete tasks independently. Exposure to bloodborne pathogens, radiation, and various chemicals and medications. Ability to handle emotionally challenging situations.
