Contract | Days | Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, with a minimum of 2 weekend shifts per month
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, develop, administer, direct, and supervise occupational therapy treatment in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local standards, regulations, and guidelines
- Assess patients' level of functioning upon physician orders and implement individualized treatment plans based on evaluation results and patient/family goals
- Participate in the interdisciplinary team process, including team conferences, discharge planning, patient and family education, and adaptive equipment recommendations
- Complete all required documentation including initial evaluations, daily progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries according to department policy and within defined timeframes
- Supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and OT/COTA students in the application of occupational therapy theory and techniques; assist with new staff orientation
- Promote patient and employee safety across key areas including safe patient handling, infection control, and fall prevention
Required Qualifications
- Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the state of Florida
- Ability to assess patients, develop individualized treatment plans, and administer appropriate evaluation procedures
- Experience supervising COTAs and/or OT students
- Strong documentation skills with the ability to complete progress notes and reports within required timeframes
- Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and quality improvement practices
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience working in a rehabilitation or acute care setting
- Familiarity with interdisciplinary team collaboration and discharge planning processes
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and care team members at varying levels of understanding
