Job Title: Occupational Therapist Profession: Rehabilitation Therapy Specialty: Occupational Therapy Duration: Full-time Shift: Monday - Friday Hours per Shift: 8:00am - 5:00pm Experience: Minimum of 0 years License: Current valid state Occupational Therapist license required (or in the process of obtaining) Certifications: None specified Must-Have: Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy required Description: The Occupational Therapist will provide diagnostic evaluations and treatment to assigned patients. They will help patients reach their maximum performance level and utilize skills learned to function in the community. The role includes providing consultation in areas such as environmental design and adaptive equipment. The Occupational Therapist will administer and write evaluations of assigned patients in accordance with departmental standards. They will maintain timely and accurate patient records and reports. Designing and administering treatment programs to increase patient levels of functioning is key. Therapeutic exercises and activities will be used to improve or maintain strength, range of motion, and fine-motor coordination. Instructing patients in adapted techniques and the use of adaptive equipment for self-care skills is essential. The Occupational Therapist will train patients in the use of upper-extremity prosthetic devices to resume daily routines. Home assessments will also be part of their responsibilities. The position requires administering therapy for neurological integration and visual perceptual-motor remediation programs. Using activities to increase the developmental levels of patients is necessary. Individualized therapy for adult learning-disabled patients will be designed and provided. Treatment programs will be administered to patients with various conditions including orthopedic, neurologic, cardiac, and balance disorders. Activities will be used to improve judgment skills, reality orientation, and organizational skills. Prevention therapy will be provided to maintain functional skills. Instruction will be given to patients on energy conservation, joint protection, and safety techniques. Training patients’ families in personal care, especially proper transfer techniques, is part of the role. Prevocational programs to prepare patients for work settings will be administered. Activities will be provided to assess patients’ organizational skills, attention spans, cognitive abilities, and adaptive-equipment needs. Home programs will be designed and patients or families will be instructed in carrying them out. Additional related duties may be assigned by management. Meets dress code standards for the department; appearance must be neat and clean. Checking work email a minimum of once per shift is required. Completing all mandatory education within the given timeframe is necessary. Maintaining regulatory requirements is expected. Reporting to work on time and as scheduled is essential. Identification must be worn while on duty. Using a computerized punch time system correctly is required. Representing the organization in a positive and professional manner in the community is important. Attendance at annual reviews and department in-services as scheduled is necessary. Engagement in staff meetings is expected, with participation in at least 75%. Active participation in department quality improvement activities is required. Compliance with all organizational policies, including those regarding ethical business practices, is expected. Communication of the mission, vision, and values of the organization, along with the focus of the department, is essential. All employees are required to maintain confidentiality in accordance with organizational policy, state, and federal regulations.
