Plan, organize, develop, administer, direct, and supervise occupational therapy treatment in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local standards, regulations, and guidelines.
Assess patients' level of functioning upon physician orders and implement individualized treatment plans based on evaluation results and patient and family stated goals.
Participate in the interdisciplinary team process, including team conferences, and collaborate with other team members to provide optimal patient care.
Coordinate discharge planning for each patient, including placement recommendations, patient and family education, and adaptive equipment issuance and training.
Complete all required documentation including initial evaluations, daily progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge documentation according to department policy and within defined timeframes.
Supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants and OT/COTA students, and assist with new staff orientation.
Required Qualifications
Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the state of Arizona.
Knowledge of and ability to apply current occupational therapy theory, evaluation procedures, and treatment techniques.
Ability to assess patient functioning, develop individualized treatment plans, and adapt approaches based on diagnosis and patient needs.
Strong documentation skills with the ability to complete evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries accurately and within required timeframes.
Commitment to patient safety, infection control, safe patient handling, and adherence to facility safety policies and procedures.
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience supervising Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants or OT/COTA students in a clinical setting.
Experience working within an interdisciplinary team environment in an inpatient or rehabilitation setting.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, family members, and care team members at varying levels of understanding.
