Develop specific treatment regimens based on assessment data and patient tolerance. Submit a written treatment plan as part of the authorized plan of treatment. Update the plan of care as needed to reflect changes in patient status. Co-sign verbal orders received by support staff as necessary. Devise a schedule of treatment to be discussed with the patient and coordinated with support staff. Educate patients and their caregivers about their conditions, treatment options, and the rationale for chosen interventions. Provide supervision for Occupational Therapist Assistants and support staff according to standards. Recommend adaptive/supportive equipment and assist in securing it for patients. Document response to treatment and changes in patient condition per policy and regulatory standards. Complete necessary documentation for compliance with regulatory agencies. Provide treatment interventions to restore optimal functioning specific to patient care areas. Educate patients and caregivers on home education programs using effective teaching methods. Communicate effectively with internal and external customers to maximize patient care quality. Promote education and development among staff and other health care providers. Participate in team conferences and interdisciplinary meetings as appropriate. Promote the field of occupational therapy through community education. Function as case manager for assigned cases. Demonstrate commitment to the organization's mission through customer service, quality of service, and teamwork. Maintain confidentiality of patient and organizational information as per policy. Perform other duties as assigned. Demonstrate competency in relevant technology as required. Physical/Mental Requirements and Typical Working Conditions: Exposure to stressful situations, including public contact and potential trauma. Capable of moving about facilities and performing essential job functions as outlined. Physical activity may include sitting, standing, walking, and postural changes. Exposure to potentially infectious materials; follow safety protocols as required. Ability to handle multiple tasks and demonstrate regular and predictable attendance. Demonstrate dexterity in handling, reaching, grasping, and other necessary movements. Physical Demand Level: Medium.
