Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an outpatient Oncology Clinic position requiring at least 1 year of oncology experience, working a 4x10 day shift schedule with no weekends or holidays.

Details

  • Outpatient oncology clinic setting
  • Nurses are partnered with a specific tumor group that sees patients for scheduled exams on designated days of the week
  • Floating among clinics within skillset is required
  • Patient ratios vary based on census and acuity at time of floating
  • Day shift schedule: 7:30am–6:30pm, 4x10s
  • No weekends or holidays required
  • Charts in Epic (experience preferred)

Requirements

  • Active NJ or Compact RN license required
  • Current BLS certification required; OCN preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of outpatient oncology experience required
  • Ambulatory/outpatient care experience preferred
  • Proficiency in IV therapy and infusions required
  • Skills in recognizing and communicating abnormal lab values required
  • Experience with chemotherapy administration (including monitoring and oral administration) preferred
  • Port access, management, and central line care experience preferred
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration
  • Two current professional references required
  • Copies of certifications required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provides oncology nursing care including chemotherapy administration, port management, central line care, and psychosocial support to patients with diagnoses such as leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and bone marrow/stem cell conditions
  • Business casual attire is the dress code; scrubs are also acceptable
  • Local candidates are accepted
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Former RWJBH staff (full-time or PRN) must have been separated from the RWJBH health system for a minimum of 1 year before being eligible for a travel assignment
  • Any requested time off must be submitted prior to offer; RTO requests made after an offer will not be accommodated
  • Candidates with less than 7 days of RTO and no holiday time off requests will be prioritized
  • Failing a competency exam requires a 6-month waiting period before reapplying
  • Non-billable orientation modules are completed prior to start and must be completed annually; Epic training averages approximately 4 hours and total modules average approximately 18 hours for RNs
  • Charge nurse experience is preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience is preferred
