Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology RN for a 13-week travel assignment requiring a compact or LA RN license and Epic charting experience.

Details

• Oncology unit within a hospital setting
• Patient population includes hematology, medical oncology, bone marrow transplant (BMT), and gynecologic and surgical oncology patients
• 7-bed positive pressure wing dedicated to BMT and acute leukemia patients
• Unit performs bedside CVC placements and bone marrow biopsies
• Uses Epic-integrated Alaris IV pumps, barcode medication administration, SCD machines, and Alaris feeding pumps
• 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
• Weekend coverage required every other weekend
• Float requirement applies
• No call-in requirement

Requirements

• Active RN license (Compact or Louisiana) required in hand at time of submittal
• Current BLS and ACLS certification required (AHA certifications only)
• ONS certification preferred
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required, with 2 years of specialty experience preferred
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, port access/management, central line blood draws, and PICC line management preferred
• Experience with chemotherapy administration and monitoring preferred
• Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE required
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation preferred
• Up-to-date NURSYS report required within 4 weeks of consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to complex oncology and hematology patients, including chemotherapy administration and central line management
• May be assigned to an Emergency Team during declared emergency events, requiring the nurse to remain onsite or serve on a relief team until the event concludes
• Orientation is held five days a week
• Two Manager/Supervisor references (not Charge RNs) required to obtain clearance to start contract, though not required at time of submission
• Must reside more than 65 miles from the facility (based on driver's license address) as local candidates are not accepted
• Rest and Time Off (RTO) preferences should be discussed during the interview process
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Previous permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must be separated from the health system for at least one full year before returning as a travel nurse
