Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology RN for a night shift position requiring Epic experience and a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio in a specialized BMT/leukemia unit.

Details

• Work in the Oncology unit of a hospital environment
• Patient population includes hematology, medical oncology, bone marrow transplant (BMT), and gynecologic and surgical oncology cases
• 7-bed positive pressure wing dedicated to BMT and acute leukemia patients
• Performs bedside CVC placements and bone marrow biopsies
• Utilizes Epic-integrated Alaris IV pumps, barcode medication administration, SCD machines, and Alaris feeding pumps
• 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 18:45-7:15)
• Float requirement to other units
• Weekend coverage required every other weekend
• No on-call requirements

Requirements

• Active RN license (Louisiana or Compact) required in hand at time of submittal
• Current certifications: BLS and ACLS (AHA required)
• ONS certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of specialty experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy required
• Experience with chemotherapy administration and monitoring preferred
• Experience with central line and PICC line management preferred
• Experience with blood product administration preferred
• Up-to-date NURSYS report required (within 4 weeks of submission)

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care to hematology, oncology, BMT, and surgical oncology patients
• May be assigned to an Emergency Team requiring facility presence during declared emergency events per unit manager direction
• Two manager or supervisor references required to obtain clearance to start (charge RNs not accepted)
• Orientation held five days per week
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must reside more than 65 miles from the facility as measured from driver's license address
• Requested time off (RTO) must be listed on profile and discussed during interview
• Candidates who previously worked as permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have a one-year separation before returning as a traveler
