Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology RN for a 13-week day shift assignment requiring 1+ years of experience, Epic proficiency, and ONS/ONCC certification.

Details

  • Work in the Oncology unit of a hospital setting
  • Patient ratio of 1:7
  • Day shift schedule, 5x8 hour shifts from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
  • No weekend requirement
  • No call requirement
  • No floating requirement
  • Epic charting system used

Requirements

  • Active LA RN license or Compact license required at time of consideration
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and ONS/ONCC
  • OCN certification preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Skilled in IV therapy/infusions, port access and management, central line and PICC line care, and administration of blood/blood products
  • Experience with chemotherapy administration, monitoring, and management of side effects
  • Experience with biotherapy administration, including interferons and interleukins
  • Experience recognizing and communicating abnormal lab values
  • Experience caring for patients with various cancer diagnoses including breast, lung, colorectal, leukemia, lymphoma, and other oncology conditions
  • Experience with pain management including IV push narcotics and PCA pump management
  • Phlebotomy skills preferred
  • At least two recent manager references required

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive oncology nursing care including chemotherapy administration, infusion therapy, and symptom management
  • Deliver patient and family education and psychosocial support
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Maximum RTO of 5 days allowed during the assignment
  • Must reside within 75 miles to qualify for local rate; candidates outside this radius are eligible for travel rate
  • Prior travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
  • Former permanent staff must have separated from the health system for at least 1 year before being eligible for travel assignments
