Job Summary
Operating Room (OR) Surgical Assistant position available in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This role involves supporting surgical teams during a variety of neuro, ENT, orthopedic, and general procedures. The candidate must have at least two years of OR experience, hold a valid surgical assistant certification from an approved certifying body, and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. The shift is scheduled during daytime hours, with a minimum of 40 hours per week.
Job Details
- Location: Milwaukee, WI
- Schedule: Dayshift, 8-hour shifts, minimum of 40 hours per week, with start times between 5:30 am and 7:00 am
- Required Qualifications: Valid BLS certification; Surgical Assistant certification from one of the following bodies: National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), American Board of Surgical Assistants (ABSA), or National Commission for the Certification of Surgical Assistants (NCCSA); At least 2 years of operating room experience; Location in Milwaukee, WI
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience supporting neuro, ENT, orthopedic, and general surgeries; Familiarity with intraoperative navigation systems such as Medtronic, Stryker, or Synaptive; Experience with robotic surgical support is advantageous
- Support on the Unit: Charge Nurse, Leads, Supervisors (AMs, PMs & weekend), Manager
- Charting System/Equipment: EPIC, Alaris, Pyxis
- Floating: Cross-trained to general main operating room specialties and urology center; no floating to other hospitals/sites
- Orientation: 1 to 1.5 weeks, subject to change based on unit needs
- On Call Requirements: 30-minute response time; scheduled 8-week call roster, including scheduled weekend and holiday on-call shifts, with details to be confirmed with the hiring supervisor
- Additional Information: Scrub color provided by hospital; parking available at no cost; shuttle service provided; food options include Starbucks and campus cafeteria; no call rooms available
