Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for an Operating Room position requiring Trauma Level I experience along with vascular, neuro, and ortho surgical skills.

Details

  • Acute care hospital setting within the Operating Room department
  • 277 staffed beds with Trauma Level I designation
  • Day shift schedule (3x12 hours), 7:00 AM-7:00 PM, with variable start times of 7:00 or 9:00
  • May require covering one night shift during the contract as needed
  • Weekend shifts required
  • On-call responsibilities required, distributed equally among nursing staff every 6 weeks (up to 6-8 shifts per 6-week period, including nights, evenings, and weekends)
  • Floating required between like units and potentially to affiliate/sister hospitals nearby
  • Uses Epic charting system
  • 13-week assignment length

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license required in hand at time of submission (no pending licenses accepted)
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2-3 years of Operating Room experience required (5 years preferred)
  • Trauma Level I experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Experience in vascular, neurology, orthopedic/spine, general surgery, urology, ENT, and robotics-assisted procedures
  • Skills in Universal Protocol (time out) procedures, specimen handling, infection control, laser and radiation safety
  • Experience with electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, and emergency response protocols (code response, fire safety, malignant hyperthermia)
  • Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting

Additional Information

  • Perform circulating and scrub RN duties across a wide range of surgical specialties including vascular, neuro, ortho/spine, general surgery, urology, gynecology, plastics, ENT, bariatrics, and thoracic procedures
  • Support trauma cases including amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, and multi-injury MVA patients
  • Utilize advanced equipment such as the Da Vinci Xi Surgical System, cell saver, and Hana Table depending on case type
  • Must be willing to work 2 of the 3 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates accepted, though a 50-mile radius rule applies for local rate eligibility
  • Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
  • RTO must be submitted and finalized at the time of application
  • Free parking available on-site
  • Scrub attire provided for OR, Endo, L&D, and PACU staff
