Operating Room RN Job Requirements

• Current, valid Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Idaho
• At least 1 year of professional nursing experience, preferably in an operating room or perioperative setting
• Operating room nursing experience with knowledge of surgical procedures, sterile technique, and patient safety practices
• Strong clinical judgment, organization, communication, and teamwork skills
• Ability to work on-site in a fast-paced surgical environment and adapt to changing procedural needs
• Successful completion of required facility onboarding, competency testing, and compliance documentation

Operating Room Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, safe, and evidence-based nursing care throughout the perioperative experience
• Prepare patients for surgery, verify relevant clinical information, and promote comfort and safety
• Support circulating and/or scrub nurse responsibilities according to assignment and demonstrated competency
• Maintain sterile technique and help ensure the operating room is properly prepared for each procedure
• Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesia professionals, surgical technologists, and other members of the perioperative care team
• Perform accurate surgical counts, monitor patient status, and promptly communicate changes in condition
• Document care thoroughly and follow established policies, procedures, and infection-prevention standards
• Assist with room turnover and maintain readiness for scheduled and urgent surgical cases
