Job Summary:
Operating Room (OR) Nurse position in Des Moines, Iowa. This role involves providing advanced surgical support in a Level I trauma center, handling a variety of service lines including cardiac, neuro, orthopedics, and robotics. The OR team works with specialized equipment such as Davinci robots and Epic electronic medical records to deliver high-quality patient care.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Rotating shifts, 10 hours per shift, minimum of 40 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: 24 months of current operating room experience, hospital or medical center setting preferred; circulating or scrub experience highly preferred; experience in general, Davinci Robotics, Pediatrics, and Trauma cases required; additional experience in neurology, orthopedics (primarily trauma), gynecology, urology, transplants, plastics, ENT, Vascular highly preferred; Epic electronic medical systems experience within previous 3 years required; Trauma Level I experience highly preferred; Trauma Level II experience required; Idaho license (or multistate license) required; active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required; participation in holiday work expected unless the unit is closed; no first-time travelers, candidates must have completed a travel assignment within the previous 9 months; must have 24 months of current operating room experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Trauma Level I experience; additional experience in neurology, orthopedics, gynecology, urology, transplants, plastics, ENT, and Vascular; EPIC EMR experience within the past 3 years.
  • Float: Float rotation may be required.
  • Additional Information: The OR runs from 12-14 suites routinely, with a focus on trauma and specialized surgical procedures. The team is responsible for handling a diverse case volume averaging 35-50 cases daily, with turnovers of less than 20 minutes. The role involves working weekends from end of shift on Friday until 6:30 AM Monday, with a requirement for overnight on-call shifts and weekend call schedule. Candidate must be able to float across all campuses in the area.
