Job Summary: Operating Room (OR) Nurse opportunity available in Oak Lawn, Illinois. This position involves providing critical surgical nursing care in a Level I Trauma Center that is Magnet designated and a comprehensive Stroke Center. The role requires delivering high-quality patient care within a fast-paced surgical environment, supporting various complex procedures including adult open-heart cases and hybrid surgeries.
Job Details:
Schedule: 8-hour shifts, minimum of 40 hours per week, with rotations including weekends every 4th weekend. Shifts may include 0645-1515, 1445-1915, or 2245-0715. The schedule is rotation-based with a 6-week cycle, and no self-scheduling is provided.
Required Qualifications: Certified Surgical Nurse (CST or equivalent), current BLS certification,Illinois registered nurse license, and at least 2-3 years of acute care experience (or 3 years of hybrid experience if specialized). Experience with EPIC electronic health record system is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Trauma experience at a Level I or II trauma center is preferred. Experience with hybrid operating rooms, adult open-heart surgeries, and Siemens equipment is advantageous.
Support within the Department: Includes access to charge nurses, anesthesiologist bedside monitoring, resource nurses, surgical educators, and EPIC super-users.
Technology/Equipment: Proficient in EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing system. Floating within the facility is not required.
Orientation: Initial day includes login access, online modules, and EPIC training. Followed by unit orientation over the next 2-3 days.
On-Call & Holiday Requirements: On-call response time within 30 minutes, with holiday coverage requirements.
Additional Notes: Scrub color is provided, and free parking is available.
