Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a Level I Trauma hospital position requiring at least 3 years of experience and a current IN or Compact RN license.

Details

  • Short-term acute care hospital setting, Operating Room department
  • OR core areas include General, Plastics, GYN, ENT, Trauma, Neuro, Ortho, GU, Colorectal, and Robotics
  • Operating suite consists of 21 rooms with an average daily census of 70–80
  • Candidates must be well-rounded and current in most OR specialties; CV and Transplant experience is not required
  • Circulator role is required; scrub experience is preferred
  • Da Vinci Xi Surgical System experience preferred
  • Charting performed in Cerner (experience preferred)
  • Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (11:00–23:30)
  • On-call required: approximately 6 call shifts per 6-week period
  • Holiday coverage required: must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • No block scheduling
  • Floating within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals is required for all travelers
  • Parking is provided at no cost
  • Scrubs are provided by the facility

Requirements

  • Active IN or Compact RN license in hand prior to start
  • Minimum 3 years of OR RN experience required; candidates with at least 2 years of Level I Trauma experience may be considered with a minimum of 1 year in a Level I Trauma setting
  • Level I Trauma experience is a hard requirement
  • Required certifications: BLS (AHA or RQI accepted); ACLS and PALS are preferred
  • Circulator skills required; scrub skills preferred
  • Proficiency across core OR specialties including General, GYN, Neuro, Ortho, Urology, ENT, and Trauma
  • Nursing degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited university required
  • 2 supervisor references required for consideration
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates (Indiana residents) are accepted for this Surgical Services position
  • Indiana residents residing within the state are considered local and will be offered an adjusted pay package
  • Former permanent or PRN employees of IU Health must have a 12-month break before applying as a traveler
  • Travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health are required to take a consecutive break to reset eligibility (effective 2/24/26): out-of-state residents require a 90-day break; in-state residents require a 180-day break
  • Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO may be approved; additional RTO requires facility approval
  • OR RN travelers in Periop/Surgical Services are not subject to the general restriction on Indiana RN travelers at IU Health facilities
