Operating Room RN Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Ohio
• RN Surgery certification or equivalent surgical nursing credentials
• At least 1 year of professional operating room or surgical services experience
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a Level III trauma center and high-acuity surgical environment
• Availability to work scheduled day shifts, weekday call, and weekend call rotations
• Ability to respond within 30 minutes during assigned call periods
• Successful completion of required competency validation, credential verification, health screening, and onboarding requirements
• Strong communication, teamwork, organization, and clinical judgment

Operating Room Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care throughout the perioperative process.
• Prepare operating rooms, equipment, supplies, and patients for scheduled and urgent surgical procedures.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia professionals, surgical technologists, and other members of the perioperative care team.
• Maintain strict sterile technique and follow infection prevention and surgical safety standards.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and promote efficient operating room turnover.
• Monitor patient status, communicate changes promptly, and support safe transitions of care.
• Participate in call coverage and respond to urgent surgical and trauma cases as required.
• Accurately document patient care, procedures, specimens, medications, and equipment usage.
