Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a Level I trauma center and Magnet-designated academic teaching hospital, with scrub experience strongly preferred and an SC or compact RN license required.

Details

• Main OR within a Level I academic trauma center, Magnet-designated hospital with 21 OR suites
• Surgical specialties include Trauma, Transplant, Ortho, Neuro, ENT, GU-GYN, and Robotics
• RNs are trained to both scrub and circulate surgical procedures
• Nursing team is comprised of 75% RNs and 25% Certified Surgical Technologists
• Day shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM
• Up to one weekend shift (Saturday or Sunday, 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM) per month required
• On-call rotation: up to 4 call shifts (end of shift – 7:00 AM) per month
• Floating within scope to meet facility needs, including between like units or sister facilities, is required
• Charting system: Epic

Requirements

• Active SC or compact/multi-state RN license required; candidates with a pending SC license may be considered but must be licensed before starting
• Current AHA certifications required: BLS
• Radiation badge required (provided by agency)
• Minimum 2 years of OR RN experience strongly preferred
• Level I trauma center experience required
• Scrub experience strongly preferred
• SSN and valid driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

• Facility is a Magnet-designated, Level I academic trauma center with 820 staffed beds
• Scrubs are provided by the facility
• Pre-start orientation modules are completed prior to the first shift
• At least one holiday period is required: Christmas (Dec. 24–26) or New Year's (Dec. 31–Jan. 1)
• All requested time off must be submitted at the time of consideration; requests submitted afterward may not be approved
• Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible for the standard travel rate; local candidates (within 60 miles) may be considered on a case-by-case basis
• Previous permanent or PRN staff at any facility within the health system must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
• During hurricane season (June–November), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams; peak activity months are August and September
