Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a Level I trauma center and Magnet-designated academic teaching hospital, with scrub experience strongly preferred and on-call requirements.

Details

  • Main OR within a Level I academic trauma center and Magnet-designated hospital with 21 OR suites covering all surgical specialties including Trauma, Transplant, Ortho, Neuro, ENT, GU-GYN, and Robotics
  • RNs are trained to both scrub and circulate surgical procedures
  • Nursing team is composed of 75% RNs and 25% Certified Surgical Technologists
  • Schedule: 3x12-hour mid shifts (10:30 AM – 11:00 PM)
  • Up to 2 weekend on-call shifts (7a–7p or 7p–7a) per month required
  • Floating within scope to meet facility needs may be required
  • Charts using Epic

Requirements

  • Active SC RN license or Compact/Multi-State RN license required; candidates with a pending SC license may be considered
  • Current AHA certifications required: BLS
  • Radiation badge required (provided upon placement)
  • Minimum 2 years of OR RN experience strongly preferred
  • Level I trauma center experience required
  • Scrub experience strongly preferred
  • SSN and Driver's License required for consideration
  • 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Previous permanent or PRN staff of the MUSC health system must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible to return as a traveler
  • Non-local candidates are prioritized; local candidates (within 60 miles of the facility) may be considered on a case-by-case basis
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront and is subject to facility approval based on unit needs
  • Traveler will be required to work at least one holiday period (Christmas: Dec. 24–26 and/or New Year's: Dec. 31–Jan. 1)
  • Pre-start orientation modules are completed prior to the assignment start date
  • Scrubs are provided by the facility
  • During hurricane season (June–November), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams; peak activity months are August and September
  • 820-bed facility operating as a high-volume, nurse-driven department with cutting-edge surgical technology
