Description

American Traveler is hiring a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) for an Operating Room position requiring 2 years of experience and proficiency across multiple surgical specialties.

Details

• Work in a 5-room Operating Room unit within a hospital setting
• Unit staffed with OR RNs, Scrub Techs, and First Assists, including 1 charge nurse, 2 RNs, and 3 CSTs on day shift
• Perform orthopedic surgeries including total joints, ENT procedures (tonsillectomy, thyroidectomy, FESS, fusion), general surgery, uro/gyn, GYN procedures (hysteroscopy, cystoscopy), and ophthalmic surgery
• Utilize equipment including power drills and saws, Arthrex, Synthes, Stryker, Zimmer, laparoscopic towers, insufflators, bovie, microscope, coblator, suction, and cautery
• Meditech EMR used
• Day shift schedule from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM
• Floating to Endoscopy required
• Bi-weekly late coverage/call rotation

Requirements

• Active NH or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and CST certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent OR experience required
• Experience in orthopedic surgery including total joints, ENT, general surgery, and uro/gyn required
• Proficient in surgical identification and setup, sterile technique, aseptic practice, counts, specimen handling, surgical site preparation and draping, and medication handling on the sterile field
• Skilled in troubleshooting sterile field contamination and managing fast room turnover
• Able to work independently with minimal orientation
• Intraoperative neuromonitoring familiarity and vendor coordination experience preferred
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

• Responsibilities include preparing sterile fields, assisting with surgical procedures across multiple specialties, and maintaining aseptic technique throughout cases
• Facility provides hospital-laundered scrubs and requires hair covering as part of dress code
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
• First-time travelers may be considered for this role
