Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position at a cancer hospital, requiring CNOR-preferred skills and oncology surgical experience.

Details

  • Work in the Operating Room of a cancer hospital and research facility
  • Day/evening rotating schedule combining 8, 10, and 12-hour shifts to total 40 hours per week
  • Shift options include 06:30-17:00, 06:30-19:00, and 10:30-20:30
  • Schedule may consist of four 10-hour shifts, five 8-hour shifts, or a combination of two 8-hour and two 12-hour shifts based on unit need
  • Call responsibilities as needed, including evening (1500-2300), night (2300-0700), and weekend (0700-1900, 1900-0700) shifts
  • Weekend coverage as needed
  • Uses Epic EMR for documentation
  • Surgical specialties include neuro, thoracic, ENT, ortho, general, plastics, urology, GU/GYN, free flaps, and robotics (Da Vinci)

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • Minimum of 2 years of Operating Room experience required
  • Oncology surgical experience required
  • BLS certification required
  • ACLS and CNOR certifications preferred
  • Circulating and scrubbing experience preferred
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor and the second from a manager, director, supervisor, or charge RN (no coworker references accepted)

Additional Information

  • Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care in a fast-paced surgical environment
  • Assist with circulating and scrubbing duties as needed across multiple surgical specialties
  • Maintain accurate patient records using Epic
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure optimal surgical outcomes
  • Experience preferred in specialties such as gynecology, plastics, general surgery, neurology, ENT, urology, thoracic, and orthopedic/spine procedures
  • Familiarity with robotic surgery systems (Da Vinci Xi, Da Vinci SP) preferred
  • Knowledge of infection control, laser safety, radiation safety, specimen handling, and Universal Protocol time-out procedures
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract due to strict credentialing timelines
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate
  • Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees of the health system are ineligible for travel assignments at any of its hospital locations
  • Requested time off must be submitted and built into the contract prior to start, limited to 7 days or less
