Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) will be responsible for circulating various surgical cases and assisting with patient care in an operating room environment. This role involves collaborating with surgical teams, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining a sterile environment.

General Job Duties:

• Circulate surgical cases
• Assist with turnover cleaning
• Transport patients as needed
• Schedule surgical cases

Types of Procedures Required:

The RN must be capable of independently circulating the following types of procedures:

• General Surgery
• Orthopedic Surgery
• Vascular Surgery
• Ophthalmic Surgery
• Urology Surgery
• ENT Surgery
• Endoscopy
• Robotic Surgery
• Obstetrics
• Gynecology

Equipment Utilized:

• EPIC
• Pyxis
• Provation

Qualifications and Experience:

• Minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience circulating cases in a hospital setting
• Ability to scrub cases is preferred

Licensures and Certifications Required:

• BLS Certification
• State of Hawaii RN License

Shift and Schedule Requirements:

Shifts may vary based on departmental needs. The operating hours are currently from Monday to Friday, 0645 to 2315. Travelers will typically be scheduled for 40 hours a week, with the possibility of 32 hours during weeks with holidays.

Call coverage is required 24/7, with average assignments of 1-2 calls weekly, including up to 2 weekends per month. A response time of 30 minutes to return to the hospital is necessary for call duty.

The successful applicant will undergo orientation during the day shift for up to one week, or as deemed appropriate by management. A minimum of 39 shifts must be completed during the contract period unless requested and approved RTO (requested time off) is taken.

Unit Information:

The facility has 6 operating room suites, including one dedicated to C-sections. Typically, 4 to 6 rooms operate simultaneously, reflecting a small but efficient and busy surgical department.

Holiday coverage is required.
