Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a weekend night shift travel contract at a Level I Trauma acute care hospital, requiring at least 3 years of experience and an active IN or Compact RN license.

Details

  • Short-term acute care hospital setting with a 21-room OR and an average daily census of 70–80
  • OR units cover General, Plastic, GYN, ENT, Trauma, Neuro, Ortho, GU, Colorectal, and Robotic surgery cases
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
  • Weekend-only position: every Saturday and Sunday plus one rotating weekday each week
  • On-call required: approximately 6 call shifts per 6-week period
  • Holiday coverage required: must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • No block scheduling
  • Floating is required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate facility
  • Charting system: Cerner (experience required)
  • Scrubs are provided by the facility
  • Free parking available

Requirements

  • Active IN or Compact RN license must be in hand prior to start — temporary or pending licenses are not accepted
  • Minimum 3 years of OR RN experience required; candidates with at least 1 year of Level I Trauma experience may be considered with 2+ years total experience
  • Level I Trauma experience is a hard requirement
  • Required certifications: BLS (AHA or RQI accepted and must be current)
  • Preferred certifications: ACLS, PALS
  • Circulating skills required; scrub skills preferred
  • Must be well-rounded across most OR specialties — CV and Transplant excluded
  • Experience with Da Vinci Xi Surgical System preferred
  • Nursing degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited university required
  • 2 supervisor references required for consideration
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Indiana residents are considered local candidates and are accepted for this Surgical Services position at a lower pay package
  • Any current or former permanent or PRN employee of IU Health must have a 12-month break before applying as a traveler
  • Current or past IU Health travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health must take a consecutive break to reset eligibility — out-of-state residents require a 90-day break and in-state residents require a 180-day break
  • Up to 5 days of RTO can be auto-approved; additional RTO requires facility approval
  • OR RNs will float where needed across most specialty areas, excluding CV and Transplant
